Vice President for Advancement Mark Mongelluzzo P’25 Elected President of Holy Cross High School

Last week, the Board of Trustees and the Congregation of Holy Cross announced that Vice President for Advancement Mark Mongelluzzo P’25 has been elected the 5th president of Holy Cross High School in Queens.

The Xavier E-News invited President Jack Raslowsky P’16 to reflect on Mongelluzzo's election and his lasting impact on Xavier.

Mongelluzzo is the third president to emerge directly from Xavier in the last five years.

Founded in 1955, Holy Cross is a co-ed high school of 730 students located in Flushing. Holy Cross is one of 23 schools and colleges, including the University of Notre Dame and the University of Portland, sponsored by the Congregation of Holy Cross in the United States.

Mongelluzzo is a member of the Holy Cross High School Class of 1992. He will assume the presidency on July 1.

Mongelluzzo’s understanding of schools and Catholic education, his expertise in the many aspects of advancement and external affairs, and his deep commitment to mission—to say nothing of his work ethic, his joyful spirit and his ability to do a keen impression—will serve Holy Cross well and will make him a great president.

Mongelluzzo left the practice of law in 2007 and joined Xavier as director of annual giving in 2008. He has been a valued member of the administration since and has provided excellent leadership throughout his tenure at Xavier.

He has enthusiastically partnered with colleagues by serving as an adult leader on retreats, worked with student speakers, cheered on student-athletes, engaged with parents and cared for our alumni.

Over the last 14 years he has played a crucial role in helping Xavier raise over $80M and securing multiple bequests which will benefit the work of the school for years to come.

Personally and professionally, I will miss the day-to-day work with Mark come July and will treasure the time together with him until then.

The Xavier community wishes many blessings on Mongelluzzo and his family as they take this next step in their lives.
