Keeping a Jesuit education on 16th Street accessible and affordable for the next generation remains one of our most enduring priorities. To that end, we offer generous need-based tuition assistance in addition to merit-based academic scholarships.
Xavier's Board of Trustees has set tuition for the 2023-2024 academic year at $23,500, a 5.7% increase over the current tuition. The only additional fee we charge is a non-refundable $250 registration fee. Xavier partners with the online service FACTS to analyze and make initial recommendations for all tuition assistance applicants. All recommendations are then reviewed by our Financial Aid Committee before we finalize decisions.

Other Costs
- Course Materials: Students pay for their own textbooks, supplemental materials, and other school supplies, averaging $150-$300 annually.
- Breakfast and/or Lunch (optional): Although many Xavier students bring their own lunch, our school cafeteria meals typically range from $6-$9. Visit our dining provider's website for more information.
- Co-Curricular Fees: Sports costs and school-sponsored trips will require fees of roughly $100-$300. Family need is taken into consideration to ensure all students may participate.

About Merit Scholarships
Xavier provides merit-based scholarships to approximately 7% of each incoming freshman applicant pool. Merit scholarships, granted over four years, are typically awarded at 20%, 40%, 60%, and 90% of the cost of freshman year tuition. Merit scholarships are fixed at a set dollar amount and do not increase in any successive year.
Candidates for merit scholarships and the Ignatian Scholars Program:
- Submit a thoughtful admissions application
- Earn straight As in middle school
- Score in the top 7-10% of applicants who take the HSPT
- Provide impressive teacher recommendations
Merit scholarships are only awarded to incoming freshmen who apply by the normal admissions deadline of December 1. These merit scholarships are awarded independent of financial need, although an admitted applicant who receives a merit scholarship may qualify for additional need-based aid if the family of that admitted applicant has a demonstrated need that exceeds the value of the merit scholarship that the applicant earns. Applicants who wish to be considered for a merit-based scholarship must meet all admissions requirements, including taking the HSPT, whether at Xavier, Regis, Fordham Prep, Loyola School, or through the Archdiocese of Newark. A registered student who receives and accepts an academic scholarship will automatically be placed into our Ignatian Scholars Program. Students must maintain an 85 cumulative average to maintain their scholarship.
Payment Plans
All families must pay through FACTS. Tuition payments can be made in one, two, four, or 10 installments directly from a bank account, by credit card, or via invoice. FACTS payment plans begin in July, prior to the academic year. Please click here for details about how to register for FACTS.
