The admissions cycle for the Class of 2028 is now closed. However, current eighth grade families are welcome to contact the admissions office at admissions@xavierhs.org or call (212) 924-7900, ext. 1442.

Steps to Apply for the Class of 2029

Step 1: Online Application

Ready to ApplyUse the button above to start or continue your online application. The application for the Class of 2029 opens on Monday, August 26, 2024. Once you submit your application, you will be able to track the progress of the submission of all other parts of your son's application and register for events through the Parent Portal. The deadline to submit your completed online application is December 4. If you plan to take the in-person Scholarship Exam (HSPT) at Xavier High School, the priority deadline for your online application is November 4 (this is a strict deadline).

Step 2: HSPT - For Merit Scholarship Consideration (Optional)

If your son is an "A" student (all grades in core subject courses above 90 [or their equivalents] for the last two academic years), he should consider registering for the HSPT. He may also register for the HSPT as his entrance exam choice. You must complete and fully submit an online application (Step 1) by Monday, November 4, 2024 to register for the HSPT at Xavier. Your son can only take the HSPT once. However, he will be considered for a merit scholarship and for our Ignatian Scholars Program if he sits for the HSPT at one of the following locations: Regis, Fordham Prep, Loyola School, or through the Archdiocese of Newark. Applicants from New Jersey taking the COOP/HSPT must list Saint Peter's Prep (code 828). Regardless of where your son takes the HSPT, you will need to fill out the "Registration Form for HSPT" through the Parent Portal.

Step 4: Entrance Exams

Applicants must take one of the following standardized tests: TACHS/HSPT/SSAT/ISEE. If you are taking the online TACHS, you must list Xavier as a choice (code: 110). It does not matter which place you list Xavier on the TACHS exam, as long as you list Xavier as one of your three choices. Registration for the online TACHS opens on Monday, August 26, 2024 and closes on October 30. If you are taking the SSAT or ISEE, you must send your scores directly to Xavier (we must receive them no later than December 20). Once you submit the online application, please note which exams you are taking by completing the Entrance Exam Form on your Parent Portal.

Step 5: Transcripts

If your son attends a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of New York or the Dioceses of Brooklyn and Rockville Centre and lists Xavier on the TACHS form we will receive his TACHS applicant record along with his TACHS scores. He must list us on the TACHS for us to receive the transcripts. If he does not attend a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of New York or the Dioceses of Brooklyn or Rockville Centre, you must submit a Request for Academic Records form to his school’s principal or guidance/high school placement counselor. Make sure you complete the Request for Academic Records and give it to your school prior to Wednesday, December 4, 2024. We must receive his official academic records from sixth, seventh, and eighth grades, along with attendance records and state test scores, before December 11. Your son's school should not submit the official academic records until your son has completed the first marking period of eighth grade. Due to privacy regulations, we cannot accept academic records provided directly by parents.

Step 6: Online Teacher Recommendations (Required)

Each student must select at least one (up to two individuals) to write online recommendations. Recommendation 1 must come from a current or seventh grade teacher of a core subject area (math, science, history, English, or religious education). Recommendation 1 can be linked to Fordham Prep's application portal (and vice versa), only after you submit a separate application to each school. As long the recommendation is linked to both applications it is only necessary to submit a recommendation request to one school. It is the parent's responsibility to link the recommendations on the Parent Portal. This joint recommendation form will allow a recommender to complete the same recommendation for both schools at the same time. Recommendation 2 may come from a principal, school counselor, placement director, coach, pastor, or another middle school teacher. Each recommender must have a valid email address. You must complete and fully submit an online application before you have access to request an online recommendation through the Parent Portal. Teacher recommendations must be received no later than Wednesday, December 11, 2024. To be kind to your recommenders, we ask that you submit your requests for your online recommendations no later than December 4.

11/4/24	Priority application deadline for those interested in taking the Xavier Scholarship Exam (HSPT) at Xavier. This is a strict deadline. After your application is approved, you must register for the HSPT on the Parent Portal. This is also the deadline for submitting all supporting documentation if seeking extended time for the HSPT.
11/7/24	Athletics Information Night.
11/8/24	Online TACHS exam for the Archdiocese of New York.
11/9/24	Online TACHS exam for Dioceses of Brooklyn, Queens, and Rockville Centre.
11/16/24	HSPT Exam at Xavier for merit scholarship consideration. The test will be administered in-person. The test will begin at 8:30 a.m. It is a three-hour exam.
12/4/24	Deadline for completed online application and FACTS tuition assistance application.
12/11/24	Deadline for receipt of all recommendations and transcripts (only for students not attending Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of New York, Diocese of Brooklyn, and Diocese of Rockville Centre who took the TACHS).
1/22/25	All decisions mailed and emailed (released by email at 4 p.m.).
