Athletics

Xavier athletics encourages the development of multi-sport athletes, promoting the pursuit of each Son of Xavier's unique athletic talents and goals.

By fostering a team-first environment, Xavier athletics provides student-athletes the opportunity to reach their full potential as a team—but also as individual teammates. Our approach is rooted in winning the right way: embracing challenges, loving the process, respecting your competition, modeling sportsmanship, and taking responsibility.

What Does it Mean to be a Knight?

Playing rugby at Xavier has taught me discipline, resilience, and teamwork. Through both training and games, I've become more coachable and more confident in my ability to overcome adversity. Anthony puk '28, rugby

Xavier plays in the highly competitive Catholic High School Athletic Association, which includes the Catholic High School Football League and the Catholic High School Hockey League. Athletic participation requires a tremendous commitment from players, coaches, and parents; most teams practice six days a week.

The Xavier Athletics Department maintains student-athlete wellness through modern sports medicine and exercise science. We have a partnership with NYU Langone Medical and Concussion Center; have a full-time strength and conditioning coach on staff; and provide myriad athletic training services.
