Xavier Cadets March in Columbus Day Parade
Two hundred and three Xavier cadets marched in the annual Columbus Day Parade, the world’s largest celebration of Italian-American culture, on October 12. Members of the X-Squad, Raiders, and other groups were joined by the Blue Night Band as they marched down Fifth Avenue.
Lt. Col. Roy Campbell, USA (Ret.), Xavier’s Senior Army Instructor, commended cadets in a Facebook post after the parade. “Gentlemen of the Regiment, once again you have brought great honor to Xavier High School by virtue of your outstanding performance of duty today during the Columbus Day Parade,” he wrote. “You marched with great panache and exemplary discipline. The alums have spoken, and they liked what they saw. … I am grateful for your commitment to duty during one of the longest parades in recent memory. Superb leadership, meticulous planning, and exceptional execution by the Commanders and Staff Officers made this one of the smoothest running Xavier parades in the past twelve years.”
