Xavier Honors Ignatian Educators
By Justin Pastilha '16
The eighth annual Ignatian Educator Awards, held on April 26, celebrated the amazing work and dedication of the New York area's finest elementary and middle school teachers.
Each year, Xavier freshmen write essays describing their favorite teacher from a previous school and the qualities that made that teacher a great educator. The winners of the Ignatian Educator Award are then selected by the Admissions Office to represent teachers who best embody the Ignatian values of cura personalis, magis, and being a man or woman for and with others. Ignatian Educators change the lives of their students in individual, academic, and personal ways by going above and beyond their classroom responsibilities.
