Xavier Carries On St. Patrick’s Day Tradition
Continuing a school tradition that dates back more than a century, members of the Xavier Regiment marched up Fifth Avenue during the 256th New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17.
Led by Xavier’s new Senior Army Instructor, LTC Jacob Kelly, USA (Ret.), and Cadet Colonel Ted Colter ’17, the Regiment marched with both American and Irish flags.
“It was a tremendous honor for me to lead the Xavier High School Regiment in this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Our unit is a favorite every year and it is always exciting to be cheered on by the crowds of celebrators,” said Colter, who will attend the United States Naval Academy. “I felt very proud to lead the Regiment as we represented Xavier High School and the JROTC in front of the people of New York City and in front of our great nation."
The Regiment was joined by Xavier President Jack Raslowsky, Headmaster Michael LiVigni, and members of the Blue Night Band as they took part in the storied parade.
