Student Film Festival Entertains

The Xavier Student Film Festival returned on May 17 with tremendously entertaining results. This year the festival had 48 film submissions, and 21 films made the cut for judging and showing. The judges' panel consisted of English teacher Kara Henn, Colin Scanley '15 (a former Xavier Oscar winner), Nino Asaro '17, Nic Inglese '09 (whose work was recently featured at the Tribeca Film Festival), and Sean De Los Santos '15

Will Rugai ‘19 wrote, directed, and edited the 2019 Oscar winner, Camden U, a horror/thriller film that won the People’s Choice Award (decided by digital survey live at the event) and had the Keenan Commons crowd squirming. Other awards went to Best Actor Mike O’Brien ‘19, Best Editor Will Palazzolo ‘19, Best Writer Declan Coles ‘19, Best Director Will Rugai ‘19, and Best Overall Filmmaker Julian Navarro ‘19
