Students Honored at Assembly

On March 23, the Xavier High School community gathered to celebrate student academic and co-curricular achievements.

Notable honors celebrated at the ceremony included the outstanding achievements of the Class of 2017, the members of which have earned more than $14 million in college scholarships to date. Fifty-two percent of the class earned acceptances to colleges under Early Action, Early Decision, or rolling admissions, and of the 144 students accepted, 88 earned admission to a Jesuit college or university (Boston College, Canisius, Fairfield, Fordham, Georgetown, Gonzaga, Holy Cross, Le Moyne, all four Loyola Universities, Marquette, St. Joseph’s, St. Louis, St. Peter’s, Santa Clara, Scranton, the University of San Francisco, and Xavier). Other notable schools to which Xavier seniors have been accepted include Notre Dame, the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the University of California-Berkeley, Vanderbilt, and Yale.

The following students were recognized for their acceptance to one of the U.S. service academies: Brian Patterson ’17 to West Point and Ted Colter ’17, Kevin Strehle ’17, and Michael Stumpf ’17 to the U.S. Naval Academy.

Major achievements outside the classroom were also noted. President Jack Raslowsky and Headmaster Michael LiVigni recognized Isaiah Blake ’17, who recently received the Princeton Prize in Race Relations. The Princeton Prize recognizes high school students who have had a significant positive effect on race relations in their schools or communities.
