Robotics Students Prepare for Regional Tournament

By Mike Chiafulio

On March 10, 48 seniors in Xavier's robotics class competed in the first-ever Gannon STEAM Room Botball Challenge. Twelve teams competed in the double-elimination tournament.

Each team was allowed to build and program two robots to work together to score as many points as they could in a two-minute timeframe. The game simulated Mars Rovers farming and placing solar arrays on the Red Planet.

In the final round, Team "Krusty Krew" beat Team "Kenjo-Ball Is Life" by a score of 95 to 90. Special recognition goes to Michael Stumpf '17, August Feliciano '17, Anthony LoBianco '17, Mario Cimino '17, and runner-up Elias Awikeh '17. The teams will now prepare for the New York/New Jersey Regional Botball Tournament, to be held May 13 in Rahway, New Jersey.

Stay tuned to the Xavier E-News and Xavier's social media accounts for updates after the regional tournament.
