Xavier Cycles for a Cause
Members of the Xavier community broke a sweat for a great cause at the SoulCycle Ride for the John Lege Project on February 4.
One of the most popular workout crazes in New York, SoulCycle (which bills itself as “indoor cycling reinvented”) hosted the event at its East 54th Street studio. Sponsored Xavier students and faculty members cycled in support of the John Lege Project, which aids African children who are victims of war, rebel abductions, human trafficking, abuse, and poverty. The non-profit is named for a young Sudanese refugee who sought shelter in Uganda; tragically, he was kidnapped and murdered in front of his classmates. The organization’s name is a reminder that behind the statistics in these challenged areas of Africa are children who deserve a better life.
“It’s absolutely humbling to witness our young men helping others and truly considering the world around them,” said Director of Alumni Relations Zane Massey '96, who attended the event with his wife. "“It was an honor to join with Xavier students in supporting an important cause."
