Early College Admissions Signal a Banner Year

In this year’s early action and early decision round of college admissions, Xavier’s Class of 2017 collected nearly 400 acceptances and scholarships totaling almost $4 million.

In a class of 277 students, 150 seniors—54% of the class—applied to at least one school during early admissions. Students earned spots at some of the nation’s most selective colleges and universities, including Boston College, the University of California at Berkeley, the University of Chicago, Cornell, Georgetown, the University of Michigan, the University of Notre Dame, Tulane, and Yale.

“The college counselors have had their hands full with one of the biggest classes in recent memory,” said Joseph Korfmacher, Coordinator of College Counseling. “The college admissions cycle is going well, with early applications yielding fantastic results. The Class of 2017 has applied to hundreds of different colleges, from as close as New York University to as far away as the University of British Columbia and Trinity College in Dublin. They have worked very hard to find numerous great colleges, and we wish them the best of luck over these next few months as they decide which college will be the right fit for them to attend.”
