Concert Pianist Jovianney Emmanuel Cruz '84 to Perform
Members of the Xavier community will have a rare opportunity to see internationally-renowned Filipino concert pianist Jovianney Emmanuel Cruz ’84 in person on May 31, when he performs a free concert at the Church of St. Francis Xavier.
The concert is being presented by Xavier High School, the Class of 1984, the New York Philharmonic, and the trustees, patrons, visiting mentors, and friends of Ang Misyon. Cruz is the co-founder and artistic director of Ang Misyon, Southeast Asia’s largest El Sistema-inspired program, which offers music education to children from underprivileged communities.
In addition to Cruz, the May 31 concert will feature the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth’s String Quorum. A suggested donation of $25 will support Ang Misyon during this international awareness and education tour. Additional tour stops will take Mr. Cruz to Washington, D.C., and New Jersey through June 8.
Questions about the May 31 concert can be directed to James Cappabianca ’05, Special Assistant to the President and Executive Vice President, at cappabiancaj@xavierhs.org.
