Records Fall as Knights Shine at the New York Relays
On Saturday, April 16, Matt Baker ’16 won the NY Relays triple jump, setting the school record at 47’4”. The senior will sign his national letter of intent to Binghamton University later this week.
As Baker dominated the triple jump, his teammates Benjamin Karam '16, Christian Raslowsky '16, Dominick Ronan '16, and Giancarlo Cipri '17 finished 38 seconds ahead of their competitors in the 4x1600 relay, with a time of 18:06.
While the upperclassmen dominated their respective events, the sophomore 4x100 team excelled as Miles Ferraro ’18, Andrew Hernandez ’18, Ethan Ramirez ’18, and Carlos Ponce ’18 set the sophomore record.
Ostrander Named 2016 All-New York City Ice Hockey Player of the Year
Varsity hockey captain Brian Ostrander '16 was chosen as the 2016 All-New York City Ice Hockey Player of the Year by MSG Varsity. Reporter Dylan Butler wrote, "A two-time All-New York City first team selection, Ostrander led Xavier in goals (31), assists (23) and points (54) and graduates as a three-year champion and the school’s all-time leading scorer with 161 points. The senior co-captain, who scored the tying goal in Game 2 of the CHSHL ‘B’ finals, was a true leader on and off the ice.”
