Rifle Team Carries on Tradition of Excellence

For the second year in a row, the Xavier rifle team won first-place team honors at the 2016 2nd Brigade Air Rifle Competition. Sixteen schools, including 23 teams and 109 shooters, competed.

In addition to the team victory, three individual shooters placed in the top 10. Cesar Torres ’18 won the competition—an incredible achievement for a sophomore, noted Master Sgt. Clifford Stein (USA, Ret.), who oversees the rifle team. Marc Suda '16 came in second, and Paul Gargiulo ’16 came in tenth. Xavier shooters then earned a trip to the JROTC Regional Air Rifle Championship in Camp Perry, Ohio, from February 18-20.
