Congratulations to Varsity Football and Cross Country

A Note from Director of Athletics Anthony Paolozzi

Varsity Cross Country Takes Second Place in NYS Federation Championship

The varsity cross country seven took to the hills of Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls in an attempt to improve on last year’s fourth-place finish at the New York State Federation Championships. It was the fifth year in a row that we have qualified for the NYS Federation Championship, an unprecedented feat for Xavier. On Saturday, Xavier finished second in New York State, trailing only St. Anthony’s; they beat us by just two points. Our second place NYS finish is the best that Xavier has ever posted in cross country.

Xavier Shocks Christ the King in Epic AA Title Bout

Meanwhile, our varsity football team (10-1) captured the CHSFL’s “AA” Championship with a thrilling 28-25 victory over Christ the King at Mitchel Field on Long Island. The game has been described as the league’s “Game of the Year” and one of the greatest in Xavier’s 134 years of football history. If we win on Thanksgiving Day, this year’s team will have recorded more wins than any other Xavier football team.
