Class of 2015 to Graduate at St. Patrick's
Cathedral; Watch Live Online
Xavier returns to St. Patrick’s Cathedral to celebrate its 173rd graduation tonight at 7 p.m. Two hundred and twenty-eight members of the Class of 2015 will be sent forth to colleges and universities around the nation, including Princeton, Stanford, Cornell, Boston College, Notre Dame, Holy Cross, NYU, Fordham, Vanderbilt, the U.S. Military Academy, the University of Chicago, the University of Virginia, the University of Southern California, Bucknell, Middlebury, and Wake Forest. Family and friends far and wide are invited to view the graduation online, where it will be live streaming for free at www.saintpatrickscathedral.org/live.
Rev. Louis Garaventa, S.J., who celebrates his 50th year as a Jesuit and the 50th anniversary of his Brooklyn Prep graduation this year, will serve as the graduation speaker. Kevin Ko ’15, a Flushing resident who will continue his education at Stanford University, will deliver the Valedictory Address. The Salutatory Address will be given by Daniel McLaren ’15, a resident of Breezy Point who will attend the University of South Carolina.
Generations of Sons of Xavier will be on hand to celebrate the Class of 2015, including Francis Mascola ’40, who will represent the 75th Reunion class. Graduation will also mark the retirement of Joseph Gorski, who has served as Xavier’s Vice President for Advancement for the past 15 years, and the conclusion of the terms of Xavier trustees Peter Seccia ’85 and Bob Haskins ’77.
