Drill Team Competes at National Championships

Earlier this week, the Xavier Drill Team ventured to Daytona Beach, Fla., to compete in the 2015 National High School Drill Team Championships (NHSDTC). Composed of 18 freshmen and just seven upperclassmen, the team—which is ranked among the top 25 in the nation—placed second in their league and second in the brigade competition earlier this year, earning the right to attend the national competition.

The X-Squad and Saber Guard earned 18th place overall and came in 10th in the unarmed squad exhibition portion of the competition.

“Our mission was accomplished by the team getting the much-needed experience in what to expect and how much practice it takes to be the best,” said SFC Anthony Adams of the Xavier team. “The NHSDTC is the largest and most well-recognized collection of drill and ceremony talent ever assembled in a single weekend. It remains a privilege and a pleasure to be associated with this exciting, uplifting military competition."
