Sons of Xavier Reunite in Boston, Across the South
Members of the Xavier High School administration traveled north to Boston and across the South this week to reconnect with Sons of Xavier near and far.
Vice President for Advancement Joe Gorski and Director of Alumni Relations James Cappabianca ’05 partnered on the Southern swing of the trip, which took them from Texas to North Carolina. "It's always refreshing to have the opportunity to meet with our alumni as we travel across the country for our reception series,” Mr. Gorski said. “This southern swing—which took us from Dallas to Atlanta to Charleston and finally to Charlotte—has been filled with great energy and a sense of lived commitment to Xavier."
Mr. Cappabianca agreed. "I find it remarkable that wherever I travel, and whenever I meet and talk with any generation of alumnus, the connection to Xavier is felt as strongly as the day they graduated. And this feeling is uniquely Xavier,” he said.
Farther up the Eastern Seaboard, Xavier President Jack Raslowsky and Director of Development Mark Mongelluzzo traveled to Boston on April 21 to meet with Sons of Xavier at the Boston College Club.
"The Boston reception is always an annual favorite and an opportunity to catch up with our loyal Sons in the greater Boston area," noted Mr. Mongelluzzo. "This year Mr. Raslowsky and I were not only joined by alumni from the classes of 1966 through 2014—including five current students at Boston College—but by Meg Florentine, provincial assistant for secondary and presecondary education for the USA Northeast Province of the Jesuits, and Nelson Miranda of Boston College High School, two members of the Sponsorship Review team who recently visited Xavier in March. It was wonderful to have them with us to meet some of our youngest alumni after having spent time meeting with our students and faculty last month."
"One thing is clear after having spent time with members of the Classes of 2012, 2013, and 2014 from BC," Mr. Mongelluzzo continued. "Our youngest alumni are not only thriving in college but are making efforts to live purposefully and are carrying Xavier's mission with them wherever they go. All around, it was a wonderful evening."
