Students Advocate for Justice During Legislative Visits

During meetings held last month with the legislative staffs of New York Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Charles Schumer, Xavier students voiced their concerns over environmental justice, human trafficking, immigration reform, and supplemental nutrition programs. The meetings were the result of months of student planning and preparation that began with the Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice last November and continued with legislative advocacy training during February’s Ignatian Family Advocacy Month.

Students were joined by parishioners from the Church of St. Francis Xavier and the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola during their legislative visits. To read more about their joint efforts, visit the USA Northeast Province site.
