Community Celebrates Xavier
Close to 400 members of the Xavier community came together last night to Celebrate Xavier and its Blueprint for Success in support of Xavier's Scholarship Fund.
Guests vied for 72 silent auction packages, from Yankees tickets to a behind-the-scenes tour of St. Patrick's Cathedral. Bidding was frequent, with almost 500 total bids placed via BidPal. In the end, the silent auction raised $44,345 for the Scholarship Fund. Attendees enjoyed the delicious offerings and the beautiful architecture of Capitale, a truly unique New York venue.
Student speaker Kevin Moncrief '15 offered a reflection on his Xavier education and his gratitude for the scholarship support that made it all possible. He urged the crowd to continue to make it possible for future students like him.
"This is always a great event and a great time," said David Pastilha P'16 '18, who attended with his wife, Lidia. "It's nice to get together to support a common cause."
Major highlights of the night included the live auction and the Fund a Student scholarship appeal at the end of the evening. The live auction, which included a week at a gorgeous, oceanfront home in Quogue, a Bermuda vacation, and an elusive reservation at Rao's, grossed $47,600. Xavier supporters were also incredibly generous during the Fund a Student scholarship appeal, donating $19,225 to help a future student in need attend Xavier.
Make sure to mark your calendars for next year’s Celebrate Xavier Gala!
