Xavier is Social: Follow Us Online

Xavier has created an active social media presence, and we hope you’ll join the conversation.

Students, parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends can follow news from 16th Street on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr, and YouTube. Xavier also runs a LinkedIn page and a special alumni LinkedIn group.

Various Xavier organizations share news on social media as well. The Xavier High School Regiment has a Facebook group that Cadet Officers use to pass information to Cadets, and there is a Rifle Team, Drill Team, and Academic Team Facebook group for Regimental teams. The track team has a Twitter presence, as does guidance, which created its Twitter account just last week. Campus Ministry is very active with its own Facebook page, Twitter account, Instagram account, and a Companions of Francis Xavier Facebook page.

“Using social media to disseminate information, to share successes, to show family and friends of Xavier what we’re doing in Campus Ministry and Ignatian Service is one way that we can meet students where they are. It is an opportunity for our office to get information out quickly, but it’s also a way to connect to the larger Jesuit community,” said Director of Campus Ministry Ms. Kaija DeWitt. “Our students, and to an extent, our parents are using social media constantly. I hope that our audience continues to grow because there are lots of wonderful things happening in Xavier’s faith, justice, and service world.”

Mr. Steven Iannuccilli, Ms. Deena Sellers, Ms. Eileen Carty, and Mr. Michael LiVigni are among the teachers who use social media to communicate with students. “I run an account for my French and Spanish students on Twitter,” Ms. Sellers said. “Through this account, students and parents can gain access to current events, study tips, vocabulary/grammar notes, and tourism highlights from Francophone and Hispanohablante countries around the world. This account also follows the French, Spanish, and Mexican embassies here in the U.S. as well as major print publications in France and Spain.”
