JROTC Fall Honors Assembly Recognizes Regimental Achievements
On December 9, the Xavier Regiment held its annual Fall Awards Ceremony to recognize the accomplishments of cadets from all years. The awards ceremony was centered on cadet achievement, both academic and co-curricular, recognizing those cadets who have achieved particular distinction in many areas and disciplines. Academically, CDT/PFC Themis Pappas ’18, CDT/SGT Christian Polydor ’17, CDT/SFC Harley Guachichulca ’16 and CDT/2LT Kevin Ko ’15 each received a Distinguished Award for Scholastic Excellence for having the highest regimental GPA in their respective class years. Additionally, CDT/CPL John McGee ’18, CDT/SGT Ted Colter ’17, CDT/SFC Kalunda Anthony ’16 and CDT/MAJ Liam Coles ’15 each received the Scholastic Excellence in Military Science Award, given to those with the highest JROTC average in their respective class years.
At the ceremony, a particular focus was placed on the future of Xavier, her students and the regiment as a whole. Mention was made by Senior Army Instructor LTC Roy Campbell (USA, Ret.) about the impressive nature of the cadets’ achievements and how they proudly represent both Xavier and the JROTC. Lt. Col. Campbell said, “Fr. John Repogle, S.J. ’51 delivered the invocation at this year’s Fall Awards Ceremony, and after the ceremony, he commented that ‘the Regiment is filled with some remarkable young men.’ These words from a “Son of Xavier,” from the Class of 1951, speak volumes.”
