Xavier Hosts Blood Drive with American Red Cross
On Thursday, November 13, many students and faculty participated in a blood drive to benefit the American Red Cross. The Xavier Commons were closed for the day in order to make room for the various registration booths, examination chairs, and refreshment tables. Organized by faculty member Ms. Alicia Psillos, Xavier hosts a blood drive biannually each academic year, once in the fall and once in the spring. The event was a great success and the Red Cross was very grateful to receive blood contributed by students and faculty of the Xavier community.
For David Gonzalez ‘15, this was the second time that he had given blood at Xavier. He recommended that all able should give blood, saying, “If you are able to give blood, you should. It’s very important, doesn’t hurt that much, and you get to help others in times of need.”
The next blood drive will be in the spring of 2015. Each student is required to be 17 years old to give, and we expect that many more will be able to donate blood in the spring. If you are a Xavier student interested in donating blood, please contact Ms. Psillos. More generally, blood is always needed, so if you are able to give, please contact your local Red Cross center to find out the best way to do so.
Xavier and the Red Cross thank you for your continued support!
