Xavier Welcomes Over 600 Families For Fall Open House
This past Saturday, Xavier welcomed over 600 families into the halls of 16th Street for the annual fall Open House. During the visit, students from all over the city had the privilege of getting an inside look into Xavier. Prospective students and families were able to take a private tour of the school, led by Xavier’s finest students – a mix of cadets, student-athletes, student council representatives and others – who energetically and honestly gave their perspective on why the Xavier experience is unlike any other. The families who visited 16th Street last Saturday were able to see the hard work of our Parents Association, the talents of our faculty and staff, and most importantly the quality, character and maturity of our students.
Parents, friends of Xavier and future students were able to visit our iMacs on display in our library, and walk through our state-of-the-art science and technology laboratories, fully equipped with smart board technology and wireless net-books. Xavier’s nationally-ranked Robotics Team was featured on the tour, a part of the day which featured some of Xavier’s most talented science, technology, and robotics engineers as they worked on and showcased their award-winning robots.
Our visiting families and prospective students had the unique opportunity to meet and talk with teachers of all subjects, coaches from all of our athletic teams and club representatives across all academic years (with members of Xavier’s Jazz Band performing in the background!). They were able to get a glimpse of Xavier’s long tradition of excellence – educating young men academically, athletically and spiritually.
Headmaster Mr. Michael LiVigni was able to comment on the impact Xavier students have on attracting some of the best and brightest 7th and 8th graders in the city. “This sense of mission is why I continue to work in Jesuit Education. I believe that our teachers and students promote that mission every day. We find and develop the gifts and talents of our guys for the sole purpose of placing those talents at the service of others.”
All in all, the Open House this past Saturday was a great success, due to the tremendous support from all who love Xavier and the good work we do here!
