This Summer, Come Join Mr. Chiafulio and the Xavier Community for the Trip of a Lifetime!
Do you know what you’re doing this summer? Looking to decompress after a busy school year and experience something new in a gorgeous part of the country, maybe with a little bit of adventure? Well, if so, we have a special treat for you. Mr. Michael Chiafulio will once again be leading a weeklong trip out West, this time to explore the great national parks of Wyoming, including Glacier, Grand Teton, and Yellowstone, from June 13 to June 20. The trip is open to all, and he is looking for more people to register by the October 30 deadline so that the trip can happen. Based on the planned itinerary and rave reviews of trips led by Mr. Chiafulio in the past, you can expect that if you sign up, you’ll have a great time that you’ll remember for the rest of your life.
In the past, Mr. Chiafulio has led trips to the Grand Canyon and Costa Rica, as a way to introduce attendees to parts of the world that they may have never experienced before. It allows attendees to explore far-off regions rich with culture and history. Xavier student Drake Martin ’16 went on last year’s trip to the Grand Canyon precisely for this reason, saying, “I really wanted to visually see America’s history. Living in New York, you sometimes feel like everything you need is here, but going to the Grand Canyon was unlike anything I’ve ever seen.”
The trip includes high adventure activities like cliff diving and rafting, as well as more relaxing endeavors such as hiking and camping. Most importantly, though, the trip offers an opportunity for all attendees to relax, spend time with one another, and create memories that will last a lifetime. “I really wanted to go on a long trip with Xavier students,” said Tyler D’Agostino ’15, who also attended last year’s trip, “and it was well worth it.”
Drake’s favorite memory from the trip was rafting down the Colorado River. He said, “At one point, we got out of our rafts, climbed a bridge, and jumped off of it into the river. With our life vests on, we drifted along with the current down the river for about a half milewhile our trek leader showed us rock formations along the river with spiritual significance to the native tribes. It was incredible.” Though the trip will be to a different region this time around, one can be assured that similar adventures await.
All are invited to come on the trip, including current students, alumni—two attended last year—faculty, parents, and anybody else who might be interested. There are no physical restrictions, and people of all physical abilities will be able to participate fully and make the most of their experience.
The trip costs $2,789 to attend, and it includes airfare, food, lodging, and any and all activities on the itinerary. To ensure that the trek will happen, more people need to register by the deadline of October 30.
