3rd Annual Senior College Workshop Day

On Monday, September 15th, the 232 Xavier seniors participated in the 3rd annual Senior College Workshop Day. Ten colleges across the country showed up to meet our young men to talk about their schools, programs, admissions processes, and facilitated various workshops in small groups. Schools such as Stonehill College, Stevens Institute of Technology, Fordham University, Scranton University and more were in attendance for the entire day. Students started off their morning with a panel discussion with all ten schools.

Each admissions representative presented helpful information to the seniors, and then allowed time for “Q & A,” where many of our seniors asked great questions that will help them through the process. After that, the students had three separate workshops, ran by the college admissions representatives throughout the day. Workshops focused on essay writing, résumé building, college list refining, interview skills, and more! The day concluded in the Commons with a traditional college fair set-up, where students were able to gather additional information on each school and personally meet the representatives that may be reading their applications in just a couple of months.

The College Workshop day is the official kickoff to the college application process at Xavier High School. On average, 99% of Xavier seniors will go on to a 4-year college or university after graduation, so it is imperative they all get off to a great start at the beginning of the year. Students were thrilled to have the opportunity to meet admissions representatives and begin working on their applications. Thanks to the Workshop Day, college group guidance and senior parent college presentations, the senior class is off to a fast start in regards to the college process. This has been a productive start to the year. In a little over seven months, by May 1st, the entire class of 2015 will know where they will be attending college!
