Mr. Corcoran and Mr. Gorski in Florida in 2013

E. Peter Corcoran '46

By Joseph Gorski, Vice President for Advancement

E. Peter Corcoran ’46 will be inducted into the Xavier Hall of Fame on Friday, November 7 at Chelsea Piers, Pier Sixty. Peter is an outstanding example of a true Son of Xavier. I have known him for more than a decade. From our first meeting at a lunch in Jupiter, Florida, to our most recent get together this summer in Port Washington, he has been a most welcoming individual, always engaged in the life of his family, Xavier High School and the world at large.

Corcoran FamilyPeter’s life has been an active one – sailing, golfing and tennis during the summers and skiing out west in winters past. He spends as much time as possible with his children and grandchildren – most recently these past few months at their summer home off the southern shore of Long Island. He is devoted to his wife Faith.

He has a deep love for Xavier and has truly appreciated the opportunities he believes resulted from the education he received at the school. He attributes much of his success to that education and believes that he should share that success by passing on the possibility of a Xavier education to several generations of students who, because of their financial situation, would not be able to afford it.

For the past 32 years, since the Xavier Annual Fund was created, Peter has been an extraordinarily generous supporter of the school and has enabled a myriad of students to attend his alma mater, preparing them for college and a lifetime of success and involvement in the world. His stated intention has always been to continue to provide opportunities to young men as long as he “is on this side of the grass” and beyond.

I hope that many of you will join us in honoring this wonderful “man for others” at the Hall of Fame dinner in November.
