Sean Hagerty, S.J. ’02 Pronounces Vows in the Society of Jesus

On Saturday, August 16, 2014, Sean Hagerty ’02 pronounced simple, perpetual vows of poverty, chastity and obedience in the Society of Jesus. Sean pronounced his vows before the Blessed Sacrament in Holy Cross Church in DeWitt, New York at a mass concelebrated by Fr. John Cecero, S.J., Fr. Myles Sheehan, S.J. and Fr. Robert Hussey, S.J., respectively the provincials of the New York, New England and Maryland Provinces of the Society of Jesus, and over 50 other Jesuits. Fr. Sheehan was the main celebrant and homilist. In his homily he spoke moving about the responsibly of all people of faith to be attentive and responsive to God’s call. After the vow ceremony, Xavier’s president Jack Raslowsky commented: “It was a beautiful liturgy and a wonderful experience of prayer. Sean, Matt, Matt and Dickson made a great commitment to the Jesuits and the Church and it was a gift to be able to share in the commitment ceremony. They are assured of my prayers and those of the Xavier Community as they continue on the road to ordination.” Sean will continue his formation at St. Louis University where he will be engaged in studies in philosophy and theology for the next three years.
