Major General Anthony Cuculo Retires After 35 Years of Distinguished Service
On June 29,
Major General Anthony Cuculo III ’75 was profiled by Salena Zito of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review on the occasion of his retirement from the United States Army. General Cuculo has served the nation with distinction for the past 35 years. Following his graduation from Xavier, MG Cuculo entered the United States Military Academy at West Point where he studied with current Xavier Senior Army Instructor (SAI)
Lieutenant Colonel Roy Campbell. LTC Campbell noted "My classmates and I will formally welcome Tony back into civilian ranks this fall at our 35th Reunion up at West Point. As one of our Army's senior leaders, he lived the Gospel and personified the Xavier call to be a Man for Others - and also the West Point call to Duty, Honor, Country."

Commenting on General Cuculo’s retirement,
Jack Raslowsky, Xavier’s president noted, “It was a great honor for me to
welcome back General Cuculo to Xavier when he and Mrs. Cuculo visited during the 2011-2012 school year. The general’s career and his character have brought distinction to the U.S. Army and to Xavier high school and it remains a great honor to count Tony among our loyal sons. His remarks to the regiment that day were humble, insightful and inspiring. I only hope now that the general is retired he can visit even more on 16th street."
