Procedures for purchasing books and uniforms for the upcoming school year.

BOOKS

Most of your son’s textbooks will be provided free of charge by New York State through the school’s textbook loan office and will be issued to him at orientation. However, some courses require supplemental materials which must be purchased and are available through the school’s virtual bookstore. The virtual bookstore’s online address is http://bookstore.mbsdirect.net/xavierhs.htm. The virtual bookstore will be fully active starting July 8th. Free shipping is available for orders of $99 or more from July 8th – July 20th. The materials listed for each course on the online bookstore must be purchased prior to the first day of school. Materials will not be sold at orientation. The school bookstore no longer stocks materials for classes. Only apparel is available through the school’s bookstore.

Please keep in mind that some of the classes your son may be enrolled in require some type of an assessment within the first couple of days of the school year. They may need to order some books early in order to complete the assignment.

Please also note that not every course requires you to purchase supplemental materials. If a course does not require additional materials there will be a message on the website that reads: Xavier High School will provide student with a state textbook for this course at orientation. There are no supplemental materials to purchase for this course.

Don’t forget that you can sell back any books that you purchased for this past school year through the online bookstore. You are encouraged to do that before the end of June in order to maximize the sell back opportunity.

The virtual bookstore has been open since June 2nd for summer reading materials only.

If you have any questions regarding textbooks or supplemental materials available through the online bookstore please contact Sara Robinson at robinsons@xavierhs.org

UNIFORM/CLOTHING

Please note that the following uniform items are required of ALL freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors:
● School phys-ed uniform
● School sweater (to be purchased from the Knight Shop) OR “Xavier” patch to be sewn onto a navy blazer (not provided or sold by the store) for winter dress code.

In addition, Xavier polo shirts, in a variety of colors, are available as an option for summer dress code and must be purchased from the school store. For further information regarding the school dress code, please refer to the notice from the Dean’s office included in this summer mailing.

While a larger selection of various Xavier apparel and gear with a price list can be found on the school’s website, we will not be fully stocked with inventory until the middle of August and some items that you would like to purchase may not be available for immediate shipping. During the summer months, shipments will leave school on Mondays in July. No uniform items will be shipped during August as we prepare for Freshman Fun Day and Student Orientation. Freshman students and their parents will have a brief opportunity to purchase items in the store on Freshman Fun Day which is scheduled for August 26, 2014 starting at 8:15. All other classes will have the opportunity to make their purchases during their Student Orientation days. If you have any questions about items that are sold in the store, please contact Ms. Cindy DeRose at derosec@xavierhs.org

PAYMENT METHOD

We accept cash, checks and Visa or Master Cards. If you intend on sending your son in with a check to pay for his items, please send a blank check made out to XAVIER HIGH SCHOOL. In the memo, please include your son’s NAME, GRADUATING YEAR and PHONE NUMBER. Xavier faculty will be on hand to help your son fill out the remainder of the check and to help him purchase the correct materials and clothing. Keep in mind that your son will be purchasing many items, so please make sure that he has an empty bag with which to carry his purchases home.

Please enjoy the rest of the summer. We look forward to seeing you and your son in the fall!

Sincerely,

Ms. Sara Robinson Ms. Cindy DeRose
