José Vilson '00 has recently published a book, This Is Not A Test: A New Narrative on Race, Class, and Education. Vilson, a middle school math teacher in the Inwood/Washington Heights area, relates his experience as an educator and proponent for social justice in education.

Mr. Vilson runs TheJoseVilson.com, where he publishes news and opinion focusing on the many aspects of education in America. He combines a huge amount of experience - many years of teaching, several articles published for the New York Times, CNN.com and the Huffington post, and a membership on the Board of Directors for the Center for Teaching Quality - with a pro-student stance that emphasizes an equal opportunity for all children to get a fantastic education, regardless of race or economic background.
