After a winter of trekking uptown to the Armory or running in the cold at Central Park or the East River, the track team welcomed the outdoor season, and did so without any beginning of the season hesitation this past weekend at the Farrell Invitational. The freshman distance medley relay and the varsity 4x200m relay both took gold, while the sophomore 4x800m, freshman 4x200m and Oliver Moe '15 in the 400m hurdles all took silvers. Xavier also saw huge throws from Dennis Barnes ’14 and big jumps from many long, triple and high jumpers – see the full results. Xavier is headed back down to Staten Island this weekend for the Big Blue Track and Field Classic.



The varsity rugby team, ranked fourth in the country by RugbyMag.com, faced off against Gonzaga this Saturday, the third-ranked team. The match ended in a 10-10 draw – the teams may very well meet up again in the National Invitational Championship later this season.
