Msgr. John Torney '30 (1910-2013) Msgr. John Torney '30 was Xavier's eldest class chair and was pastor emeritus of Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish in Bernadrsville, NJ. He passed away Monday at age 102. |  | Robotics Wins NY/NJ Botball The Xavier Robotics team won first place at last weekend's NY/NY Botball Autonomous Robotics Competition for the fourth time since 2005. The night will consist of tours of the seminary, Solemn Evening Prayer with Cardinal Dolan, followed by dinner. Discount for registration by April 12! |  | Let Us Make This Week Holy Xavier is happy to share this prayer of Sr. Thea Bowman, F.S.P.A. for your reflection as we journey through Holy Week. Sr. Thea Bowman was the granddaughter of slaves who joined the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration at age 15 in 1942. She ultimately earned a doctorate in English Literature from the Catholic University of America. Through the years Sr. Thea became known as a gifted poet, preacher, master teacher and evangelist, even through her battle with cancer. She died on March 30, 1990. This year the anniversary of her death falls on the day we celebrate the Easter Vigil, the first celebration in the Church of Christ’s resurrection. Be assured of the prayers of the Xavier administration and faculty this Holy week and Easter season.
